RSD12-Pittsburgh is the inaugural session of Colloquies for Transgenerational Collaboration (CTC), part of the #NewMacy Initiative. The structure of Colloquies is to bring together the focus and passion of today’s students and scholars with the experience of those engaging directly in the wicked challenges in today's world. The intention of Colloquies is to foster transdisciplinary and transglobal (diverse and inclusive) conversations-for-action across geographies and generations.

Colloquies for Transgenerational Collaboration centre on a single organising principle: proceed from the younger participants’ starting points, worldviews, and values—and create new framing and language through collaboration across generations, projects, disciplines, and practices. The public conversations are designed to discover compatibilities and develop a plan for continued, structured exchanges beyond the limit of the October sessions—they are the basis for ongoing design and co-creation—the start of a living repository that evolves with global collaboration and to be widely shared to the benefit future researchers.
